I usually hit em in Sept. Went out the other day, saw some sign, some tracks. Took a nice swim in a river pool, ate some berries, all and all a good day.

Saylean, ever have any luck the first couple weeks of Oct? Berries are usually long gone & so are the bears in my neck of the woods. Haven't been able to talk any apple tree owners into letting me stake out their trees...most of the time they're close to the house. I usually hunt down by Oso or further north. Any advice? Thinking about Wickersham or Granite Falls (not asking for your honeyhole).

That's a bummer Edge ! Any rain in the forecast for you?
We had the same issue here earlier this month, but luckily I'm hunting on private lands with the owner's permission so I was still able to bait. The ban only applies to Crown lands travel. I did take the precaution to bait either early in the morning when there was at least dew on the grass or waiting til after there was a quick shower or light rain.
If we don't get some rain soon the ban may very well be reinstated.

Tuk...no rain forecasted for almost 2 weeks...and by that time the big bang theory will begin....Where I'm looking to go is heavily populated with black bear and I was hopin for a relative easy spot...the stalk would have been on mountain sides and most likely off a logging/access roads. I can hunt deer here on my own 2 acres so I might just set my blind up here while I wait for rain........
