Well it's been awhile since I've posted anything & I miss interacting w/our small BQO family. The Spring Special Hunt is over. A few bears were taken but none were mine. While I would have preferred filling my tag, I still enjoyed myself a whole lot more than staying at home. Some of us would be a miserable lot indeed if 100% of our hunting pleasure depended upon a filled tag eh? I am really getting interested in the art of the baiting strategy! Hope you learned some about the unique practice of bears peel'in trees in some places in our countrys. Skeeter, Pipepusher, others...want to hear about your days in the woods! Challenges, near misses, or any mini adventure encountered on you way to work...er your stand. I always hang onto every word as a fellow Hunter is "unpacking" his hunting adventure or misadventure. No matter the hunting style or what side of the border...we really aren't much different when it comes to the hunt & what floats our boat.
1 August is the start of the Gen Bear Season in WA. In the meantime I am keeping busy preparing for a Centerfire Cowboy Sihoulette match next Sat 6 miles from the beautiful Province of British Columbia. There is only about 13 of us "seasoned" shooters, shoot'in 19th cent leverguns or their replicas. We have a couple border crossers from BC who give us a run for our money. Also, starting next weekend, we have a revenous in Eastern WA called the Happenz. It is H6 or the 6th annual get together of the levergun Scoundrels. 19th cent firearms, cast load "boolits", & period open sights. Shooters from as far away as New Jersey, Indiana, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Orygun, not to mention carloads of Texicans who aren't that bad once you get to understand them. Shoot'in steel plate "dingers" as far out as 1000yds (almost a km). The far dinger is 52" diameter but still looks small thru open sights w/70+ eyes. I will attach a pic of some old geezer hold'in one of my Winchester's. If you want, I can send a few H6 pics next month.
