well tomorrow kicks off another big game season for us NS based hunters. Bear and archery deer open. Busy day finishing up some pre-season chores. Every day before opener I can't help but think back over past hunts, and more importantly, people I've been lucky enough to share some woods time with. Sadly, some of those fine folks have passed on to greener pastures , some have just moved away, some I have just grown apart from and life has just thrown in that wedge......but still.....I remember those times with fondness as if it were yesterday, when in fact its been many years.....but I guess in your heart there is no clock.
But time marches on and another season opener is upon us all....I wish a safe and happy season for all....
This season I'll be hunting with several new friends for the first time, but I already know it will be a success, with or without any tags punched.
I've often thought that the people I get to know... really know...I've got to know them the best while being in the woods chatting with them....for us folks who cherish the hunting lifestyle and all that comes with it...mother nature is like a truth serum. I've gotten to see people the best it seems when taking a breather on a stump or riverbank...and vice versa.
I just know there will be some excited texts among my group of hunting friends. Maybe thru the wonder of cell phones...a pic or two will be shared.
Nothing will ever replace the warm fuzzines of the hunts I spent with my Dad and Brother....but time marches on....and I know they would be pleased that I've kept on keeping on....and now have a small but great group of hunting buds. And so am I.
All I really know is I'm looking forward to it....more and more each season.
Best of luck to all that see this.
