And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?
It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.
What if Christmas,he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.

Well Merry Christmas to all of you. Still deer hunt'in Skeeter? More power to ya! Gett'in ready to brine & bake a turkey, sure beats the otherwise tag soup eh? I too am dreaming already of next year. My tentative plans are concentrating on the Ghost of the Pacific Northwest, the Blacktail deer (the slightly scaled down, genetically related, but smarter than, the Mule Deer (IMHO). Out on the Olympic Penninsula of WA state on the shores of the Pacific Ocean & the Strait Of Juan De Fuca that separates us Yanks from our Canadian brothers. Oh yeah, don't forget Vancouver Island of BC where Jim Shockey's "Cave Bears" roam (just thought I'd throw that in). Edge, are you there?
I have even humbled myself & been talk'in to outfitters (better be fair chase) that have leased land in areas that seem to be producing good Blacktail specimens. There was a time when, as a young hunter w/lots to learn, that I turned my nose up at the thought of paying someone to guide me. I now see the value of partnering w/someone who, of all things, might know more than me. Yeah, took a few years but I admit I need a little "guidance" from time to time.
Anyone on this forum that isn't already "hibernating" is invited to chime in & agree or disagree. Like my Cockney grandfather used to say, "Happy Christmas".
