A question for you guys up north. Met a guy on Bowsite that would like to come hunt deer here in Illinois. He has offered to take me bear hunting on his property in Ontario. After skimming the regulations, it says I have to be registered with a guide or outfitter. Can I hunt with a individual on his property? Seems like a great trade off. I’ll still help him take a Illinois whitetail, but would be nice to have a place to bear hunt in Ontario.

I know a guy. He's a bear outfitter from Sudbury area. He hunts often in midwest US for antelope etc. last time i talked to him he just finished a southern ontario deer hunt ... he told me .. never again. said its back to the midwest for him.
he's a bow hunter mid 50's
you interested?

Sounds promising ibowhunter, skeeter! Can’t be very helpful but excited for ya. My only foray into CA was a successful hunt w/Itcha Mtn Outfitters near Quesnel, BC. My only guided hunt, 2012. Being a gunhunter, I was fortunate to have been prepared for firearm intricacies on BOTH sides of the border...Turned out fine if not a little entertaining on the US side upon reentry. Good Luck & keep us posted!

skeeter, just about every year for the last 10 years or so, someone has been at the house hunting for a week or two. Most of the time it’s not a reciprocal thing. I just enjoy helping guys shoot a nice buck. If your guy is a bow hunter, I’d be happy to help him out.
Gonna do a little more checking about the outfitter thing, but I’m sure Patrick will be spending time here in the fall.

skeeter, you might show your friend this years buck. A 11 pt that grossed 160 2/8”. He’s the 5th buck taken from the same tree, all over 150”. It’s a good spot!

As nonresident to legally hunt in Ontario you need to be hunting with outfitter only after you have filled the proper forms you allowed to hunt Im sending you a PM
