Follow up to my first smoking experience.
After having the heat temp regulating issue with my Bradley I consulted with Utube . It's on TV so it's gotta be true. There were several claims that the element was under sized at only 500 watts. It was suggested to go with a 900 watt element, which I found thru Grainger Canada ( Tempco 900 w heating element ) which lists for about $94 Can.and as it happens was the best price I could find.
I bought the element , installed it and upgraded the wiring to 12 gauge ( I believe).
Rewired with fuseable link upgrade

How in the world did I miss this year-old post? My Bradley is older than yours & I have it setup outside on a table under the upstairs deck. Being banished from red meat, the use of the smoker has sure dropped off. I do still get excited about a smaller, whole turkey or some slabs of salmon. Sadly, both store bought (but they still eat good). I have even been known to hot smoke up a batch of farmed salmon (don’t tell) & the tasty tidbits have never been returned to “customer service”.
I have had some frustration w/ projects that involve larger amounts of meat. Gusting breezes are common everytime I even think of smoking. Your thread seems to be a possible solution.
My cardiologist said I can have “1 meal of indisgrestion” per month. Venison?......hummmm. Any of you guys done any venison smoking? Just chime in...I don’t bite. 😄
