So. I was in truro today and stopped in at U.F.O to get some Franks hot sauce (4 liners for 10 dollars of course I am going to get one) and came across 4l of strawberry syrup. Got one bottle of it figured it would be good for on top of the bait. If works will be stopping in next time I'm there and getting all them. 8$ for 4l of syrup thought that was a decent deal.

Sweet Deal mack11 ...pardon the pun ! I don't think you'll have to worry about it working !
Something I use a lot of and is cheap ($0.50) is the no name jello crystals ...Raspberry, Strawberry and Cherry flavours. Throw in some bread , some crystals, more bread , another flavour ... more bread ...you get the picture.
Excuse my ignorance ... UFO ? If you find a good deal on bulk Hickory Smoke, Vanilla or Anise ...buy it !

Yes I've stocked up on the dollar store Jello packages. Got strawberry and cheery flavors. The U.F.O store I'm not sure exactly who owns it or anything but it's kinda like a smaller cheaper Costco in a way. No membership or anything they don't have a whole lot of stuff but they just have giant portions. 4l of hot sauce 1 pound cans of tuna just everything big and cheap. Great spot for some stuff.

When using the anise or liquid smoke would it be wise to mix with an oil to help it stick to whatever it is you put it on?

Yep for sure mack !
I mix up Hickory Smoke with Vanilla and just a bit of canola oil in a good spray bottle. Every time I bait I spray it up in the trees around my bait so the wind currents can spread the scent around. Too much oil will gum up your spray nozzle.

While I was cleaning out the cup boards today I found a bunch of expired protein powders that I didn't like the flavour. I have a chocolate fudge, peanut butter chocolate and cookies and cream. Anyone ever experiment with these for baits. Thinking adding the powders to popcorn in the barrel. Wouldn't hurt to try I don't think. Any advice on it.

I don't think you'll have any problems getting rid of those flavours mack11 ! I wouldn't worry about it keeping them away ... that's for sure.

Didn't think it would hurt adding it also popped about 8 full garbage bags of popcorn today as it rained all day and was off. Starting to get quite the pie of bait. Tim's saving me all their old everything, the popcorn which is starting to add up, lots of bread. Aunt owns a restaurant so oil is coming out of everywhere will check the cams Saturday or Sunday since it's supposed to be nice and see if any critters showed up yet.

Geez Mack ...you're starting to sound like an old pro at this !
Curious as to what you're using to pop so much corn. I've heard of one guy using 4 air poppers ... wouldn't think they would be able to keep up the pace for too long.
I'm dealing with a rat problem under my shed right now ...7 and counting ! So storing bait at home is not an option right now! You're way ahead of the game.

One 20$ air popper now due to the rain and crappie weather but when it's nice it's outside to the big lobster pot propane burner. I'm surprised at how the air popper held up yesterday says to wait 15 min in between popping times I would run it for about an hour then let it cool for 5 min and back again. Good old Betty Crocker popper from Home Hardware. Another rainy day today so I may pop more after a bit today.

What about molasses. Found a good deal on some seems a lot of guys use this. IS it worth it to buy some. I guess for 60 cents a kg it wouldnt hurt... I've never had success with molasses. I guess there's different grades of stuff. The stuff I tried was from the farmers co-op and was for cattle etc. when I poured it into a shallow dish and it was isolated the bears never touched it. cameras don't lie. I've also stuck my finger in it and put it in my mouth. don't want to do that again. When applied to bait and the bears eat the bait does the molasses add anything to it. I think not. just a waste of money.
a full stomach lasts longer then bad taste! for me NO molasses!
