Well, I will toot my own horn here. I wrote a book about hunting black bears without using bait or dogs called "No Bait Just Bears". It has pretty good reviews, but was self published so its a little rough around the edges. My next book, coming out called "The Ultimate Guide To Black Bear Hunting" available now on pre order is like my first book, only on steroids and much more refined.
Currently, I am reading, 55 Years In the Alaskan Bush about an old bear hunter/bush pilot/guide. Pretty good so far, some cool insight.

Thanks, like to add to my small library once-n-awhile. Rough around the edges OK by me. Important thing to me is that the writer has/is walk'in the walk (unlike some hunting magazine "experts"). Back when I used to subscribe to them, I would occasionally read a hot article in one mag & another mag wouldhave a similar, slightly tweaked article the next month. I recall your posts way back when you blew up a Dodge motor while on the hunt (or is that a sore subject?)

Never had a dodge, but I have had engine troubles before on hunts. For example, last year spring hunt, after loading up my bear and being miles back, I looked down at my 4runner temp gauge and was pegged hot! Limped outta there and somehow made it back after taking it real slow. I have been enjoying that 55 years in the Alaskan bush, birdman of Polly creek book. Almost done with it.
I will be off to reading another bear hunting book here again once I get done with this one.

You didn't mention if you were alone or had a partner w/you. More than once I've heard other Hunter's comment "one bad thing about 4X4s is that they're good for getting you really stuck deeper in the woods". Been stuck in the snow a couple times but either had another rig pull me out or a buddy help me dig out.

Saylean is there any chance I may be able to acquire both your books once the second one is in print? Was hoping I may be able to purchase a couple signed copies if that's possible.
If you are able to PM me the Costs and Shipping I'd be delighted to wire you the monies.
Hmmmm ... I think it may soon be time to look at a bookshelf for my expanding library.

tuk d 1 I am sure I could arrange something. In reality, the second book (Ultimate Guide To Black Bear Hunting) covers all of the first book and more. But if there is still interest in the first book, I could include it. I will let you know once I get more copies of the second book, all I have right now is the first printed copy. It comes out soon though. SIDESWIPE...I was with my little brother when the truck acted up. I mostly hunt alone for bear however.
