I'm ashamed to say this is the first time since last Fall I've picked up the bow to shoot.
I used to throw 50-60-70 arrows at a time which was just stupid. After the first dozen my form would go to crap , and shooting became very frustrating. Bea (Blackwidow) ... finally got it in my head to only shoot a few at a time. Now I shoot a set of 6 arrows go in the house for a bit and shoot another 6. I'll do this every evening now til season starts (weather permitting). Has made a big difference in my shooting and confidence !
First Arrow off the string ...18 yards !
First Group ...Not so hot!
2nd Group ... Things are starting to come around ... Just need to work on the concentration factor !

Looks to be a delta-McKenzie target. Backyard series I think.

Shut my mouth! Here I was whining about squinting thru a vernier tang Sight at 600+ yds w/an 1890s design gun. Yes I like cheese w/my whine.

If I could shoot that well with my recurve, it would be going to the woods with me. I enjoy my compounds, but I love the simplicity of a recurve. Guess I need to get it back out and include it in my practice routine.

It comes natural to some guys like my buddy Reggie, but for me I need to practice a lot thru the summer ... pretty much daily. When fall comes around I'm pretty confident in my shooting . The last thing I want going thru my mind when I'm drawing back is ... Geez ... please go where you're supposed to !
If you haven't taken a big game animal with traditional gear, you're really missing out on an awesome experience. I've always been an old school kind of guy so going back to stick and string wasn't a big step for me. But I have to admit I love it . Like you said ilbowhnter ... it's the simplicity. Do yourself a favour and pull out that recurve, get reaquainted and fling some arrows ... I know you won't regret it !
Not sure if you've read thru any of the stories the members have posted but there are some great writers in our small group. I wrote one on My Longbow Bear ...check it out !
