So I figured I would try the molasses I had bought a while back on some of my bait. I mix about 3 or 4 cups of feed molasses with hot water and give it a good shake in an old 2l juice bottle. Dump half of it on the bait and the rest all over around the bait and on the barrel. Well I have one problem. I CANT keep bait in the barrel. Seems the bears cant get enough of it. The barrel with it in it was filled to the max last night when I was out and this afternoon was completely empty. Will have to get more bait Friday, they are still onto the popcorn but have since taken a liking to the bread soaked in molasses, but of course who doesnt like bread and molasses...

That's funny Mack ...I've never had much success with the cattle grade molasses. The first pail I bought I ended up using it on the ground for them to track thru. I think I still have a second pail at home now that I think about it. There is Dry Molasses on the market if you can find it at a feed store ...about $35 for 25kg bag. Shur Gain didn't have any! Certainly would be a lot easier to work with.
Have you tasted it yet ...pretty bitter stuff. The stuff is actually pretty good for you, at least your bears will be healthy !
I switched back to the Crosby's table molasses ... pricy as hell but they love it !

Finding I have to fill them every 2 days or they are completely empty. 3 days 11 hours and ill be heading to the stand. Excited to say the least.
