the bear story is a fun one.....set a bait in a brand new area....first night we had a hit...3 hrs later....jump fwd 8 weeks and we still only had the one same bear on the site. But it was a fatty....only having two sites to choose from I decided this bruin would be my target bear...it was insanely fat. So for two weeks prior to the opener this bear went to the dark side....first pics always 10 minutes past dark. I was hoping tho he was around the area before getting in front of cam....but at the last moment on the opener I went to another sight that was stinky with bears...but none as unique as this one.. first night i never saw a bear. Day 2 i went to where the fatty was....doh! he was there at 740....so i ran back to the other site I had hunted to check cam....nothing interesting in....just a couple small one...so I booted it back to the other site. It was a long sit as i knew only one bear was here and he like the darkness.....i literaly checked my watch and it was 740....i thought -SHOWTIME- and sure enough....minutes later i caught a glimpse of movement between two trees 75 yards away. I watched the bear amble up a boulder strewn river for 80 odd yards. It was the prettiest approach I've ever seen. The rest went as planned...he just walked into the area and I drew and released. I waited 20 minutes and climbed down to have a look for a trail. It was light but steady. I had just dropped a marker on a blood clue and shown the light ahead for another tell tale splotch of blood and was rewarded with one of the fattest bears Ive ever seen....I shut the light off an knelt down in the darkness listening for any sign of life. It was a xx lung hit and the bear ran under 50 yards....the lightweight recurve bow had earned another notch.

What a bear. Loved the way you tweaked the story...both made up a doubleheader.

One afternoon we went 35k into the backdoor of gros morn park.....I've never seen such moose sign...I wished we had gone in sooner....but it was a big task.....coming back to truck after midnight ( we should have packed in sleeping bags and stayed). We almost made a move on a great bull.....but we knew we would never pack him out in time to catch our ferry the next day.... although ya can't see with the cell phone pic...there are 3 moose along the shore of the pond....a nice bull and a cow and calf....we watched them for 3 hrs at least...they barely moved 100 yards for the first 2 hrs......mister it was quite a commotion when the bull would make unwanted advances towards the cow....we briefly thought about dropping down over the side and trying a move on them ( easy with gun but tough with bow) that, and the fact we had to leave the next day at noon......we honestly didnt know if we could get the moose back up to the top of the ridge and out in time before we had to leave......so we just tried calling.....at one point the bull lost a bit of interest in is lady friend ( and as anyone knows.....its tough to call a bull/buck/stag away from the real thing).....but he did leave her side and enter an island of dark timber heading our way.....untill that is, the cow decided that she didnt really have any love interest in the bull.....but she didnt want him going to another cow.....so she started bawling in some seductive cow talk....and he went running back to her.....I'd have rather got to launch an arrow at him....but despite that....watching the show on the worlds largest big screen techni color hi def viewer was a close second.....I enjoyed sitting there on the nicest evening of the whole trip with Terry Smith solving all the worlds problems lol......Ive said it before....but I best get to know new friends when out in the elements.....this evening was no different....I cannot express enough thanks for this invitation to experience some wild country and bowhunt North Americas largest member of the deer family....

Newfoundland Reggie ...ahhhh ... laughed til I peed myself !
I've been lucky enough to experience some of the Nfld wilderness first hand on the Northern Penn up around the Main Brook area ! Unfortunately it was in the Pre-Digital days so picture quality is less than ideal. I'll make an effort to copy the pictures and insert them at a later date.
I'll never forget Abe Waye telling me ..." Out da Mish B'ye ...Out da Mish " ! What the F@#* was he talking about ...After a few minutes I managed to translate ... Out on the Marsh, Out on the marsh ...stood two fine bulls !
As they say in Nfld Reggie ... Ahhsome B'ye ! Finest kind ! Newfoundlanders ...tougher than nails B'ye, and you'll never meet a nicer bunch of folks !
Incredible pics of the caribou and Bobcat ! Thank God for the Tcam eh? And don't worry about the buck ... I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him in the pink canoe !
