Hi all... I just found this site so I signed up. Never really hunted for bears directly, I am a deer bowhunter and for the last few years have bought a bear tag to have with me as I do have a few bears in the areas where I hunt. There is an increase in population over the last few years, and so with any luck, I will put one on the ground soon. Thanks for the great looking site, and look forward to reading everyone`s expertise advice. I won`t have much to offer, but may ask a few questions now and then. I am in southern Ontario Canada just northeast of Toronto about 100 kms.

Welcome dg72a! Looks like I need to learn from you concerning Whitetail hunting. Here in the soggy jungles of Western Washington the Blacktail is definitely boss. We have Whitetails & Mulies on the Eastside but most of my stomping grounds are closer to home. Yeah, Tuk is right about being hooked, be forwarned Yup, my 1st 2 bear were taken opening day of Blacktail seasons. There is a fellow bowhunter just a few miles North of me: Edge in British Columbia who is on this forum.
My mother was born in Toronto but I'm 1st generation Americano (only way Tuk would let me join this forum)...English grandparents & Canadian momma.

Hey nltim ...welcome aboard! I'll make a bear hunter outta ya yet B'ye! You did so well with your first baiting lesson, we'll move on to step #2 ...Rebaiting . Then we'll look at getting you crossbow trained !
In true Labrador fashion, nltim and I made another pilgrimage to the woods ... just an excuse for a boil up and Time to recharge ... Fire , fresh air, running water and of course ... a kettle of tea me son ... An integral part of the Newfoundland / Labrador culture alive and well in Nova Scotia.
Thanks Bud ...great to have someone to share the Great Outdoors with again ! Enjoying it more and more with each trip out !

Yep Scary and I go back quite a few years...25-30 I'm guesstimating. Kim and I just happened to cross paths in Halifax while kayak shopping last summer.
Larry is a photography buff so I'm hoping to get him in the stand so he can get a few good bear pictures this fall.
