Yes ...I'm another one that got caught up in the new "Survival" craze. If one good thing has come of it , it's that it got me back in the woods for no other reason just to have a fire and enjoy a Boil-up of tea !
My prized possession for the woods is my fire starter kit.
The little red handled "Speedy Sharp" is actually a sharpening tool which works very well, and I highly recommend it. It actually is quite versatile...not only is it a sharpener but I find that it also works very well at scraping the magnesium off the block and is an excellent striker for the ferro rod. Cotton balls with some magnesium scrapings light very well. Peanuts you ask ? Not only do they prove a source of food but the shells can also be used as fine dry fiber material to add to the cotton mixture as well.
Hey Henpecked ..if you're wondering ...There's a little piece of Colorado in the picture ... any guesses ?
