First of all let me personally Thank You for visiting BQO. As you can see we are a work in progress as we start a new endeavor into the amazing World of Bear Hunting. It is my sincere hope that anyone interested in Bear Hunting will feel welcome here and openly share their wealth of knowledge and experiences. To those new to the sport ... join in and feel free to ask any questions you may have and share with us any of your ideas or observations you may wish to convey.
This is only the start of BQO and I welcome any suggestions, or assistance, you may wish to offer to make Bqo your "Go To" Bear Hunting forum.

Hey abner ..does my heart good to see you signing in. So nice to hear from some familiar names! The forum is a work in progress so if you or anyone have any ideas as to how to improve the site just send me a PM.
If anyone out there is good with the programming issue I'd be more than happy to accept the help, as my computer suave is quite limited.
Welcome aboard abner my friend!

We lost some great threads and posts!! Such an education I gained... then hopefully shared with others as I grew. I have always had a hard time letting go. Let us start anew!

hey Pipe
I check in almost daily. You sure are right, the old site had stuff that will be lost forever. Or at least until we start reposting.
You do look a little bit out of shape in your recent avatar!
I'm busy in the garage/shop putting together 10 auto-feeders. about 1/2 way done. We had a great, no fabulous season last year targeting BIG bears. We never shot any because for all the work and effort we only had 4 days to hunt. You know they just don't co-operate sometimes. We had to go on our moose hunt and dates were tight. This year moose seasons have been pushed back 1 week for bow and gun. This means we get 2 weeks to chase bears.
We have our spring season here to go with the fall season BUT still only a one bear/yr limit. The fall is such a nice time to hunt. My partner and I will make a few runs into bear country to deploy some feeders and multiple cameras to further our education.

here's my 2 cents....Forums were a great thing....as witnessed by how quick in popularity they grew....but the challenge to day is FB, Twitter etc....they are quicker and easier to upload quick pics and a brief word or two...and it seems....thats what people want.
But not all the time....and not all the people....I think the challenge face here is to be progressive and how to move fwd.....I dont think a re-hashing of what has already been discussed on countless boards will generate the passion and responses from members as in the past.
And thats the million dollar question....how to make forums new and appealing again.
If I knew that...I wouldnt have shut down BEA lol....but I think some new avenues for discussion must be discussed.....and good posts with lots of pics ( for those who have the time) will always out weigh a 30 word post on FB.....its just getting the time to put them together.
Enough....its a challenge but I don't think its impossible.......

Hey Rog, I recall the passion as a new bear hunter...someth'in about hunting an intelligent predator that got/gets my juices flowing. A little different than deer or even wild Calif porkers! You may never realise how useful & encouraging that BEA was. It's gone now but it helped hundreds, if not thousands, of us newcomers to this great sport & respect for what has been called on this forum..."ghost of the woods". BEA is gone but the memories & benefits last for a lifetime. How else would have my wife & I have met two wonderful people & a house full of cats in Beautiful Lunnenberg, Nova Scotia? Eh?
