I was gonna go yote hunting today....but i didnt trust the ice thickness of the lake i have to cross....i lost my courage lakeside lol. So I came home and had a chat with a fella who told me he was likely done hunting. This was his last season. At 80 some....he had a great run but he's feeling it now and says he gets lost easy . So I sat in front of a cozy fire and. as is often the case, my mind drifted back to my fav spot on earth.....the st mary's river valley......... www.beas-outdoor-adventures.com/outdoor-chronicles/making-memories

Hey where's my signed copy of the book you're supposed to write ?
I have had the pleasure, and have been fortunate enough to visit Lost Hunter's "Hallowed Grounds"! He had shared in a few of the many memories of those early hunting years, showed me the Tribute to his dad that still blesses those woods, and gave me the grand tour of where past footprints had been laid. I did also bare witness to Roger's skill at coyote calling on that trip ... his ability to call in the pileated woodpeckers was a thing to behold ...Lol! He spoke of the Barrens , a rather peculiar anomily, given the surrounding territory. He even let me carry his bow for him ... cause that's just the type of guy Losthunter is !
I'm so glad I had the opportunity to visit before the property before it changed hands. Thanks for sharing Brother !

That was just a part of those barrens....I always remember them best when there was no road to the top of the hill....it was ( still is) a special spot.....but now that ya can drive your truck to within 1/2 mile....they see more company....boo ! You've told me to let the old stuff go ( at least pics of you haha- and no - I wont lol) but I'll share this with you and those barrens......one Remembrance Day week many moons ago, 3 mornings in a row we hikes into those barrens from the camp....and I kid you not....in each morning a 10 point buck came back out with us. I think it was my first 3 trips in there. My bud ( who I eventually bought the old house from) was guiding some hunters from PEI. I\ll never forget that. On the Thursday, after the sports were on their way home....I went up for trip number 4. I killed a nice 8 point ! Glory days ! Hardly a deer up there now....or at least when I was last there.
