Found this forum while searching for Bears East where I was known as Newfiebouhunter. I have read through some posts here and see references to the old board. What happened to it? Was hoping to look over some extensive posts I made where I logged my whole hunt that season including some great pics. Oh well glad to see I have another source of like minded idiots lol I mean individuals who are crazy enough go the distance to get er done. Haven't gone after bears in a few years but heading back to my usual location early May to get back at it. Stay tuned!

Let me be the first to welcome ya nlbearhunter! I kinda cut my teeth on the BEA forum a few years ago. Welcome from the Wetside of Washington state. That forum is gone but the power behind it is often found here. I’ll let Tuk, the BQO founder & my friend fill you in when he gets up from his nap. He has taken more bruins than I have drawn a bead on.
Pull a seat to the fire & share a little about yourself. You a gun hunter too? Thought I was the only one here. We have some experienced bear maniacs here. Sideswipe

Thanks for the welcome sideswipe, yes myself and my cousin have harvested 4 bear in Central NL with gun. My wife and I hunt caribou each fall we get a license as well. I followed advice from the old board and it paid off big time. Looking forward to getting back at it next month after 5 years of not hunting bear. We have some of the largest black bear in North America here due to them have many moose and caribou calves to add to their diet.Hoping to wait out a larger one this time.

Appreciate the background info, yeah you’ll fit in fine here. I can only imagine hunting in country like that. My dad brought me up small game & bird hunting...probably because that was all he knew although I’m sure the farmlands of Indiana & Ohio harboured plenty of Whitetail. At least he fostered a love for the hunt in me.
I regret to admit that I didn’t get into deer/bear hunt’in ‘til middle age when a job change brought our family to the California/Oregon border w/plenty land to fish & hunt. 1st 2 bear were taken on opening mornings of deer season...a chance encounter while still hunting.

i remember lol....hey...that was my ol forum. I shut it down as I was just to swamped running it and a coupe other little side gigs.....just n0t enough time to do it all. Also, forums really died off as FB became so popular. Had I known FB was gonna turn into such a shite-show....I might have kept it up and running....live and learn they say.
Good crew here.....

nlbearhunter ...Welcome , Welcome , Welcome ! Soooo glad you found us. banana banana banana
Just as a little background ... I too was one of the many who found Bears East Adventures and basically got hooked on it. I've had the pleasure of hunting a few seasons with Bea (Losthunter) and when he decided to discontinue his Forum I was kind of lost. Within a few days I had set up Bear Quest in an attempt to keep the fire burning. I've managed to have a few of Beas former members find my site.
Looking forward to lots of pictures, and reading about your set up, experiences, knowledge and advice. We're always looking for new tricks so feel free to share.
What area of Newfoundland do you call home ? Headed to the Granite Planet myself in May to visit some close friends in Rocky Harbour.
Oh My Son ...Big Bears ... " Looked like the mountain was moving " !
Welcome aboard nlbearhunter !
