I must admit, it's not without reservations, but after 14 years I've decided to sit out the 2018 season.
Seems every year bait gets harder and harder to find ... so much so I was stressing out about it too much. Just seemed to have take the fun out of baiting and was draining me mentally. I was partially relying on the apple crop this year but even that took a huge hit from late frosts. Bread and sweets supplies have dried up.
I have found that baiting and hunting without a partner takes away from the hunting experience and camaraderie, sharing your stories, joys, trials and tribulations.
Thanks to the generosity of others ...Losthunter and my buddy Benny ...I have a supply of bear meat so I have no need to hunt just for the sake of killing one. I've been helping out a few friends bait and have dressed out a bear already so it's keeping me in the bleachers at least so I'm still watching the game play out.
