Hey mack11, enjoyed your post & pics (esp the pics!). I have encountered cubs a couple of times while still hunt'in in the hills above the Smith River & the little settlement of Gasquet, Calif. They were little squirts. Really playful. They were so busy playing w/each other & roll'in down the hill they didn't know I was standing within 20' of them. I was about to pee my pants as I'm sure MaMa saw me w/her eyes or nose for sure. Safety off, finger on trigger, back plastered against an old growth stump, I waited it out until the cubs had disappeared & I couldn't hear them anymore. Then quietly & slowly took off in the other direction. Happened 2 times that year....pretty sure same bear family. Wish I had an aerial view of all of us at that time...probably would still scare me today.

Great to see Mack ! Couple years ago had 2 sows with 2 cubs each at the baitsite at once. Had a sow with 2 cubs come in while I was on stand but was to enthralled watching that I forgot to pick up my camera and start videoing.
