What were you filling them with?
Grease - molasses - maple syrup ?
great to see there's still some guys out there with thinking caps on!
Tuk - Make sure you don't fill it with beer!
or all the in-laws will be all over it!

Skeeter I saw the one Roger had. Looks like it has a pool ball that acts as a stopper. When they lick or push up on the ball with their tongue or nose it allows the liquid to pass thru ... a check valve basically.
They are refillable and you can put whatever liquid you like in them. I would expect the thinner the liquid the sooner it will empty. Any of the liquids you mentioned would work very well.

tuk Here's the one I designed years ago. Like a ban roll-on deodorant dispenser. Used billiard ball in a machined/modified pipe cap. We use molasses and chocolate syrup. Kept the bears around if we, god forbid, ran out of bait. It did work and if it was the answer to my problems I'd still be using it. It did attract bears but not always the RIGHT BEAR.
It would be simple for me to adapt mine on to a short nipple and attach to a propane tank. Mine had about 1/16" vertical travel of the ball. the ball would also roll and give them a tongue taste.
Hats off to them for trying to come up with creative ways to add to this great bear hunting pursuit.
But you know my direction. Attracting lots of bears and all bears is often detrimental when trying to get BIG BEARS!
Seeing that cub up on the tank?? That's a no-go for me!

That's exactly what they're using Skeeter. The one Roger was testing had a pool ball for a dispenser.

Yeh ... Great concept but a lot of money to pay . Like Skeeter I'm sure a lot of people would spent the time and improvise to make their own working design.
I was given one to try by fellow member Losthunter ... but I've yet to try it. It would be nice to have a way to raise and lower it for ease of filling,, otherwise it's a ladder and an accident waiting to happen trying to fil it.
Skeeter says he has a 1/16" play in the ball, mine seems to have more than that so I'm wondering if the oil or whatever you use would just flow out. There is no clearance adjustment on mine to fine tune it for flow.
