Although Nova Scotia does not have a Spring Bear season there are no regulations restricting the baiting of bears in the off season. Much of the bear hunting community have already established bait sites and are actively feeding. Initial indications are there are a lot of bears around this year and Tcams are providing pics of some nice shooters.
N.S. Fall season opens the 2nd Monday in September so there's lots of time yet to start baiting. With bait at a premium to acquire I do not have the wherewithal financially to begin this early, so I'll have to wait until at least August before I get a site set up. Hoping to establish a new site further along the gated road I have access to. The landowner had allowed some individuals to fish back his road but they abused the privileges and he has taken back his gate keys. He knocked down a few trees across the road to deter them so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get back where I want to be.
Soon time for a little Recon mission!
