Well I never sat over bait as we don’t have a state that allows it. My limited experience however within Wa State & British Columbia....my best results also match the better weather. Both still hunt’in & spot & stalk on “good days” seem to work equally well, at least in the spring if not in the General season to allow both a morning& afternoon hunt.

I won't hunt bad weather - especially rain events , which here in many cases, also has a wind component. Tracking arrow shot bears in good weather is difficult enough, and I'll seldom hunt if rain is forecast to start before dark. A shot bear that goes unrecovered is a haunting feeling ... Been There - Done It ... don't like it ! To me it's just part of being an ethical and responsible hunter.
Now I have hunted the afternoon once a front has passed thru , but have not harvested a bear with that scenario.
