Nova scotia presently has no Spring Bear season , although it's been talked about for several years.
I'm hoping some of Y'all, who have a Spring season will chime in here and let us know what your game plan is. Where ya hunting ? Maybe some pictures of your set up? Baiting / hunting strategy?
The more you contribute, the more entertaining and informative BQO becomes !

Well, I’m headed up to hunt with Skull around the 6th of June. Setup is basically the same as last year, my Hoyt Axius Ultra pulling 70# at 29” draw. Arrow is a 340 FMJ with standard HIT and a VPA collar and a 100 grain Magnus Buzzcut. Only thing new is a Carter Wise Choice release. Getting the hang of it. Went 5 for 5 in a 5” group this morning at 60 yards. Hopefully that tightens up as I work with it. Not sure what his setup is, so I’m taking my quad, sled and LW hang on stand and sticks. Really looking forward to this hunt. New area and someone who seems like a great guy that I actually met on this very board!

Sounds great! Give us an After Action Report! I recall that even small details make great memories.

So what part of Ontario will you be hunting Ib ? Be great to see some snaps of your birds eye view of the baitsite .
I know this ain't your first Rodeo , but when I went to Colorado with Roger for elk one of our Hosts, and fellow member Henpecked, told me ..."Take lots of pictures ... Lots and Lots of pictures " I took him at his word and never regretted it !
Here's a picture of Henpecked about 5 minutes before a bear bolted across our back trail about 20 yards away, He had to have been watching us.The joke was ... had to send us East Coast boys out to Colorado to show them what a bear looked like ! Really ... what are the chances a bear hunter from Nova Scotia would see a black bear close up on his second 2nd day in the Colorado Rockies ? Me thinks something more Devine was at play .

He’s up on Lake Wenepitei, about an hour from Sudbury. Be taking lots of pictures. I’ll try to post daily, depending on cell signal.

84 more sleeps here in Nova Scotia. Been stocking up over the spring, $25 a paycheck a lot easier on the wallet than 2-3 bags at a time.
Been trolling the local Facebook Marketplaces for some Popcorn Soldiers ... Pick up #4 today, but still on the hunt for a few more. You can usually get them pretty cheap - $10, and in many cases have barely been used !

Sweet Jesus ! !!!
Just did some pricing up on feed for this years bait ! Oats ... $16.23/50 lb bag , Cracked Corn ... $19.95/50 lb bag , Popcorn $ 50 lb/bag
Going to be a 2 shaker barrel season this year for sure.
With the price of gas, bait runs will definitely be fewer ... Going to be an expensive season ! Just glad I started buying my dog food earlier.

Thanks Bro ... just trying to figger out the logistics of how and what to do . You know what I'm like when it comes to baiting ... gotta dumb it down, just to make it difficult. Still going to utilize my local supplier to maintain my "proirity status", so it doesn't fall into the hands of another baitknapper .
