That's Awesome Edge ... You're going to love it ! banana banana banana
So give us some details ... and we need a closeup of that beauty. There's something about the simplicity of Trad Bows ...all just back to basics , stick and string. And they are lethal ... I'm at about 47# with mine and I buried a 27" arrow right up to the feathers on my first bear!
Do you plan to hunt with your new longbow? If so you may want to try the Magnus Stinger 4 blade broadheads. I use the 125 grain and they fly true. Blackwidow turned me onto them and I love em. I'm shooting 27" Beaman Classic 600 carbon arrows (discontinued) 8 gr/".
I'm sure Squirrel is grinnin' right now !
Congrats Prime. tuk d 1

Congrats Prime. tuk d 1 I can tell ya one story on them stingers.....when I went to Africa my PH was a trad shooter. We spent many an afternoon flinging arrows together...and talking archery...more specifically ...bowhunting. We covered all aspects and I was eager to pick his brain...as he has taken a ton of big game ( including all but one of the big 5 ) and literally hundreds and hundreds of animals...many with his bow. Anyways, he was interested in my broadheads...as they flew so true ( we did all out practice with broadheads). When he saw how well they performed on game...he told me he was impressed....especially how the reinforced tip stood up so well....and how easily they re-sharpened. I notice now from his subsequent emails and posts on his website....he now uses the magnus stinger 4 blade....so we are in good comany tuk.....I can't see a reason to change.....

Saaaaweeeet ! These longbows are crazy light too !
I actually practice from about 17 yards as my treestand set up is about 13-14 yards out.I do practice out to 20 which is about the end of my comfort zone. I've always been told to try starting at a shorter distance and work your way out.
If there is one piece of advice I can give for practicing is not to shoot too many arrows at a time. When I shoot too many arrows my form started going to crap and arrows were going everywhere. As your muscles tire you start dropping your bow arm, have an inconsistent anchor point and begin to loose concentration. ...Trust me , Been There ...Done That ... So now I shoot my 7 arrows take a break for half hour or so.Shoot another and repeat this process after work in the evenings. I found that when your shooting starts to waiver then you start to overthink your form and get all frustrated because you can't figure out what you're doing wrong.
If I shoot a couple good groups I'll quit for the night. I always try and finish on a positive to build my confidence. Guess it's time for me to start shooting too!
Great bow Edge, I know you're going to love it!

Thanks for the tips Tuk. I was at the indoor range yesterday(it was raining) 17 yds I believe. I shot for about 1/2 hr just trying to get to know the bow. It is fun. My blind on my property is only about 12-15 yds depending on where I sit. All the hunting off the property is spot and stalk so I'll have to take it out a bit. I'm thinking I'll try to get to 25-30 eventually but we'll see. cheers for now Edge

Rule of thumb for draw weight is 3lbs/inch from 28'. So at 29" draw add 3 lbs so you're at about 47 lbs. My bow is 53 lbs at 28' but I only draw about 26' ... 2"- 3lbs / " ... 53-6 = 47 lbs. 30 yards is a long way for a longbow. I'm comfortable out to only about 23 yards but that's my max.
Lol ! The fact that they are so fun to shot makes it hard to put them down once you get started. A problem I still struggle with. The other thing that really helps me for bear hunting is using a 3D bear target ... it really helps me visualize shooting a bear.
Keep your eye on the prize Brother!

Something that I've learned over the years Tuk is that what seems pretty doable in the armchair is usually a diffgerent story in the field. I say 20-30 because I really don't know at this point. Practice Practice Practice and we'll see after that... cheers Edge

I play a game with myself. Shoot 3 arrows at a 6" bulls eye. For every arrow inside , you take a step back, for every one outside you step forward. You will find your range real quick.
